How the Twilio connection works

Estimating Twilio usage

Segments decide what a text costs.

A standard text holds 160 characters in one segment. Longer messages split into 153-character segments, and emoji or other Unicode characters cut that to 70, or 67 per segment when split.

ConnectSMS shows characters, segments and encoding before you send, and outreach estimates the total segments for the whole audience on the review step.

How much does ConnectSMS cost?

ConnectSMS costs $120 per user per year, for the one edition with every feature. Twilio bills your own Twilio account separately for messaging.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Installing ConnectSMS from AgentExchange starts a 14-day free trial of the full edition, with every feature, and no credit card is required. After the trial, ConnectSMS is $120 per user per year. Twilio still bills your own Twilio account for anything you send during the trial, and Twilio's own trial accounts don't work with ConnectSMS, so connect an upgraded Twilio account.

Do you offer discounts for nonprofits?

Yes. Discounts are available for nonprofits. Contact us with your organization's details and we'll confirm the pricing that applies.

Does ConnectSMS limit how many messages I can send?

ConnectSMS doesn't impose message-plan limits or quotas; Twilio bills your account for what you send. Admins can set an optional daily safeguard, and Twilio and the carriers apply their own sending rules.

Are some features only available on a higher plan?

No. ConnectSMS has one edition with every feature: texting from records, scheduling, the shared inbox, templates, outreach and Campaign SMS, automation and administration. There are no plan quotas, user caps or locked features.

Do I need my own Twilio account?

Yes. ConnectSMS sends and receives through your organization's own Twilio account, and Twilio bills that account directly for messages, phone numbers and registrations such as A2P 10DLC.

How is SMS usage billed?

Twilio bills per message segment at its own rates. A standard text of up to 160 characters is one segment; longer messages, or messages with emoji and other Unicode characters, use more. ConnectSMS shows the segment count before you send.
